Wildlife of Queensland, Australia - A Photographic Diary Summer 2013

In summer 2013 we went to Queensland, Australia, which was awesome.  As well as looking for birds, we spent time looking for mammals, including Humpback Whales, rare and wild Indo-pacific Humpback Dolphins that we were able to feed, Duck-Billed Platypus which is the weirdest animal I have seen, Koala which were really cute and a lot of kangaroo and wallaby species.  We also went snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef which was unbelievably beautiful with coral and multi-coloured fish.  We still had time to see almost all our target birds.

    1. Hi Otto, must have missed a whole load of comments! Our trip to Queensland, Australia was amazing. It was great being able to stay where ever we wanted in our campervan. We had a long list of mammals we wanted to see and were really lucky to see Koala and Duck-billed Platypus in particular.

  2. As someone who is into wildlife tourism in India, it becomes imperative for us to see the world view on wildlife. Your blog does just that. Thanks!

    1. Hi Shamsher, thanks for your comment. Hopefully we will make it to see tigers in India and will definitely look you you. I think that understanding conservation projects around the world and which have been successful and why is the key to conserving birds and animals particularly in areas where conservation is new. I do a talk called "Born to bird" which is a lot to do with successful conservation projects that I have seen around the world.

  3. You can rent carnival rides at a very affordable price. Prices and rides vary from one company to another,
which is why it is best to compare your various options when planning your event.
Start by assessing the amount of space available for carnival rides so you can select rides that fit the space available for your event.

  5. Hi, thanks for reading my blog and hope you have come back to it again. When we first planned out trip, we did plan to go to a water park and amusement park, but we decided it would be too cold for a water park! Unless you are poor, where you go away is partly dependant on how you spend your money, we don't live in a big house, have nice cars or spend lots of money on going out...we spend our money on birding trips.

  6. Hi Kevin, thanks for your advice which is essential to would-be travellers. We would always check reviews before we went anywhere. As seasoned travellers, that is the first bit of advice we would give anyone - spend time trawling the internet, looking at websites and reviews about everything you do whether it's tour companies, guides, campervan companies, whale watching boats & feeding dolphins (many are unethical, we were not allowed to touch the dolphins), amusement parks, hotels, camp sites and even restaurants. My mum and dad spend months checking everything out to make it a good and ethical trip.
