Some of you who have been following my blog, will remember that when I travelled to Malaysia with my Mum, whilst Dad was in West Papua, she left the packing until the last minute, we missed our coach and had to pay a fortune for a taxi to get us to Heathrow just in time for our flight. A little bit stressful!

So this time, Dad read Mum the riot act. It seemed to work because come 6 pm on Friday, the night before, she was all packed with the locked bags weighed and ready to go. Hand luggage were also packed with all our chargers in them.

I only had two hours to get my stuff together, including dinner, before I had to go out onto the Mendips Hills with Scouts. Good job piano was cancelled....

A new Mum? I don't think so, as apparently she had lots to sort out on the computer keeping her up until 1 am...

The next morning after more time on the computer and packing essentials like footwear, we headed down to our local village pub for a poetry recital. That was enough to stress Dad out.

After an exchange of Valentine's Day cards and chocolate, we headed for the coach station in Bristol.

We had 2 big cases each, as we were taking 60 kg of old boys clothes which my aunt had given us. The plan was to distribute them to local villagers on Sonadia Island, where people are really poor.

I went into the coach station and waited with the bags as Dad carried them in, whilst Mum waited with the car. The first bit of good news was that the coach driver didn't tell us off for the number of bags.  We got to Heathrow airport terminal 4 on time, got through check in and security really quickly considering it was the first day if the school holiday, had a meal with lots of social media and got to our gate without being late (another one of Mum's party tricks).

We were flying Bangladesh Biman, which is a budget airline.  The flight was direct (via Sylhet) and so a big advantage. We had our own headphones with us and so could watch a couple of films, which was nice.  Everyone else had no entertainment or had to watch without sound. My main priority was reading though, as I am doing a reading challenge and have read 32 books with 10 more books to go in 10 days.

Mum had an old guy sitting next to her who didn't speak to her until he needed her to fill in his immigration form for him. When she saw his place of birth, she told him that she was Sunamgonji as well and impressed him with her Sunamgonji dialect and her ability to say which villages her grandparents were from. After that they were best friends. I suppose it's a bit like being born and brought up in South America but still speaking English with a Liverpudlian accent.
