Camp Avalon - Sat 20 Jun 15, A session on world birding and conservation

Camp Avalon - A camp for young birders and inner city teenagers

Saturday morning was the first full day if the camp.  After a morning of birding we returned to the Avalon Marshes Centre for drinks, lots of chocolate cake and then a talk from world birder, Andy Mears.  He talked about how world birding has improved his birding skills and all the other great things about birding abroad.  He also talked about all the conservation that takes place because of birders travelling to other countries and putting money into eco-tourism.

Andy was really inspiring and encouraged us to volunteer with an eco tourism bird project abroad if we were going to have a gap year.

Andy was the second person in the world to see all the Pittas of the World, which is amazing when you think about how hard it is to see even the easiest species.
