30 Days Wild - Day 14 - 14 June 2015

30 Days Wild - Doing something wild everyday

Day 14 - Going for a walk on the Mendips at the beautiful Stockhill.

Today was another busy day at the brilliant Festival of Nature in Bristol.  Mum and I were handing out leaflets for Camp Avalon which is the camp for young birders and young people in general that I have organised for next weekend.  The Bristol Nature Network had been great again handed out leaflets to anyone who seemed the right age and English Nature also took some (they run the Avalon Marshes Centre where we are basing our camp).

This year was an extra special event, because Bristol is the European Green Capital 2015, the first UK city to be chosen and so there are lots of events taking place to celebrate and highlight environmental issues.  I feel really lucky to be living here.

Looking out for teenagers at the Festival which takes place at Bristol harbourside over the two days has made me realise how few teenagers were there.  Today between us we only handed out about 20 leaflets and some of those were under 12 years old.  I am going to write about that and my thoughts on it in another blog post.

Mike Dilger (from BBC The One Show) was speaking at 3.00 pm but we had to leave before that, so it was a shame to miss him as he is always good fun.  We were meeting a friend of my Mum's from London who was in Bath for the weekend.  It was good to see her and I got the chance to go shopping on my own, which doesn't happen too often.

We then went to the lovely Stockhill for an early evening walk across to Priddy Pools, which was really peaceful after a busy weekend in Bristol and then shopping in Bath.
